"You look cool, Daddy!"

Last Wednesday night, while Gordon was getting ready to go to the Slipknot concert (for those of you that don't know this band, it is Heavy Metal) I was at the dining room table with Drake, helping him finish dinner. As Gordon was coming down the stairs he asked me what I thought of the shirt he was wearing... Drake turned around to see his Daddy and annouced "You look cool, Daddy." Enough said, the shirt stayed on~ :)

Drake is in Iowa!

We are having so much fun with Drake since his arrival on Saturday! We have been playing with lots of toys~ the Motorbike from Nana & Papa has especially been a big hit. Upstairs we have a catwalk leading from the top of the stairs by our room to Drake's room, with one side overlooking the Family Room and the other side overlooking the front entry to the house. Drake likes to ride his motorcycle down this hallway and has made a game out of it-- he stops along the way at "stoplights" and he has even been "pulled over" and given a "ticket," and told to "slow down." We have 3 different video clips of him riding his motorbike, so I choose the shortest one... see below for a clip of his adventure!

On Sunday, we went to church and then Drake got a haircut! He was such a good little boy and we were very proud of him for sitting still and not getting too alarmed when the clippers came out. As soon as the haircut was complete, Drake was able to see himself in the mirror and a HUGE grin appeared. He was SO happy and smiling from ear to ear! Gordon and I could tell he was very proud of his new haircut and we are very proud of him too. The attached picture was taken as soon as we got back into the car... also pictured is the lollipop he received. :)

New Years 2008

Gordon and I had an excellent time ringing in the New Year with our friends in Des Moines. We celebrated at Jenny & Klint's house along with 5 other couples and a few of their parents. It was quite funny because there were 3 pregnant women at the party and Gordon suggested I drink what they were having... I said "water"? We laughed~ I love my husband, he is so wonderful!

Christmas in Wisconsin 2008

We had a wonderful Christmas with Drake and Gordon's parents in Wisconsin. We celebrated a few days before 12/25 because Gordon and I were due to spend actual Christmas Day in Las Vegas with my folks.
Drake is 3 years old now and understands the whole Santa concept, so we had a lot of fun with it! Normally, Drake is a slow to wake up in the morning but when he heard "HO, HO, HO" and the jingling of bells from Santa departing the Guthrie home, he bolted upright in bed and ran toward the sound. He kept running through the house "looking for Santa", we had to steer him towards the gifts under the tree to distract him from "trying to find Santa" (which was played by Gordon's Dad). It was so much fun for all of us!
One of my Christmas gifts from Gordon this year was the Adobe Photoshop program, which allowed me to put together these new collages. Here are some photos of our Christmas in Wisconsin to enjoy!

Vegas Revolution episode!

Hollywood here we come! The "Indulgence" episode of Vegas Revolution aired on the Travel Channel on 12/25 with filler clips of myself, Gordon and his parents (Steve & Jackie). For all the details about how we ended up on an episode of the Travel Channel see our blog entitled "Viva Las Vegas!" posted on 10/21/08.

Gordon and I are trying to figure out how to get a DVD copy of the episode, but in the meantime I videotaped the TV and downloaded the segment to our blog. You can see us in 16 different clips throughout the 5 minute segment. Sorry about the camera movement during the video... I tried my best! Click on the link below to view it on YouTube. Enjoy :)

Holiday Time 2008

Last weekend , Gordon and I hosted a cocktail party for my employees and their spouses at our home. We are very grateful for the success of my team this year and we felt they deserved a party to thank them for all of their contributions. There was a lot of laughter and good times~ we had a great time with a game Gordon came up with... each team member submitted a song that they felt best represented them--no matter from what era or the reason why , which led to a lot of comedy in and of itself. We played them throughout the night and everyone tried to guess which song belonged to each person , and there were prizes for the most correct number of guesses . It was a blast!
Click on the link below to see some photos from the evening.

Next Saturday we are traveling up to Wisconsin to spend the weekend with Drake and Gordon's parents. On Tuesday we will be flying to Las Vegas for Christmas. I will be sure to take lots of photos to share with everyone!

Drake's 3rd Birthday and Thanksgiving

Gordon and I just got back from spending the Holidays with family in Wisconsin. We had a wonderful time! It was also Drake's 3rd birthday~ he was very excited to get a powerwheels Motorcycle from his Nana and Papa, a Handy Manny tool set from Aunt Megan, Uncle Shawn and the girls, and a Doctor's play set, new puzzle book, and Hot Wheels cars from Daddy & me. We had so much fun with him and the whole family!
It was entertaining to watch Drake interact with his cousin Taylor (they are about 5 months apart in age) they both played very well together, sharing toys and playing pretend. At one point they were "going grocery shopping" which consisted of Taylor listing off all the things they needed to buy while Drake followed her around the house, sometimes even carrying her purse! He was quite the gentlemen, just like his Daddy!
