Girl's Trip to Iowa!

After 10 years in Iowa, two of my best girlfriends came to visit!  I have been dreaming about this visit for YEARS, from where we would eat to what we would do, and it all came together for an amazing girls' trip.  Only one friend wasn't able to make it, but I haven't given up hope!
Tiffany came in on Thursday and we enjoyed a 'day in the life of Amy'.  We picked the girls up from school, watched Alexa play soccer, and ate at our family's favorite restaurant, Mickey's. On Friday, Tiffany and I walked around the East Village and did a little shopping.  That evening Danielle arrived and we had a great dinner at Eatery A, then headed home to get cozy and enjoy the fireplace while chatting the night away!  On Saturday, we went to a cooking class and my Iowa bestie, Kristin, met us there for a little fun while improving our culinary skills.  That afternoon, we were relaxing on the outside covered deck, listening to the rain pouring down, and the house was struck be lightening!  That was a CRAZY, yet memorable experience!!  On Saturday night we got dressed up and went to dinner at Roca, then went to Hush for dancing...so much fun!!!  Our trip came to an end on Sunday, as the girls went back home, but not before a yummy brunch at Republic.  I love these girls so much and I can't wait for them to come back to visit again!

Fun Run!

The girl's school has a wonderful fundraiser where the kids run around the school campus for donations.  The Guthrie Girls represented well and I was so proud off them and their classmates!

Drake...Soccer Star!

Drake has decided that soccer is his sport (just like his Daddy!) and has really excelled.  He is in a  traveling team that goes to tournaments across the state and they've done an excellent job!  Here is a great photo of him and Gordon in-between games.  xoxo!!

DIY Weekend!

The girls and I recently had a DIY (Do It Yourself) weekend where we focused on some artwork for their walls.  The inspiration came when I noticed the girls were in the habit of taping their drawings to the wall.  Which sounds fine, but they would fall down from lack of stickiness or pull the paint off the wall when the girls switched out pictures.  So...introducing framed art!  Thank you Pinterest!

Step 1:  repurpose old frames!

Step 2:  Paint them to match their rooms!

Step 3:  Position them and add the string and clothes pins

Step 4:  Hang them in their rooms!
