We recently had our family photos taken, and it ended up being a rainy day...but, the sun came out just long enough to take the photos.  So many good ones!!  Here are some of our favorites!!

Hopping Around!

Go out and grab a copy of Better Homes & Garden's Halloween issue, turn to page 42 and you'll see Kirsten!   She is wearing an adorable frog costume made out of sweats!

Our neighbor is an Art Director for the Meredith Corporation and several months ago she reached out to see if Kirsten was available to be a model for an upcoming magazine issue.  Not knowing if Kirsten would be too shy, I asked her to give me her best poses...she was a natural.  Gordon took her to the shoot and she did a great job.  The hard part was waiting until the magazine came out!!  :)

Cousin Lee has moved to Iowa!

Gordon and I moved to Iowa in 2007 without knowing anyone or having any family here...fast forward 8 years and we can now say we have family here!  My cousin Lee moved from Ohio in late August and I've already signed him up for babysitting duty.  Welcome to Iowa Lee!

Happy Times!

It was a fun filled summer in Iowa!  We visited our usual "fun" spots...Adventureland and the Iowa State Fair!  Nothing compares ;)

First Day of School

The kids have completed their first couple of weeks of school and it feels nice to be back into a routine.  Drake is in 4th grade, Kirsten is in Kindergarten, and Alexa is entering Pre-K.

I can't believe Kirsten is already in Kindergarten!  She did great on her first day and loves learning! She checked out a book in the Library and brought it home to read to me.  It's a Level 2 and she was able to get through it with only a little help from me.  I'm one proud Mama!

 

 

Batter Up!

It was Boys Night Out in the Guthrie Family!  Gordon took Drake to see our minor league baseball team, the Iowa Cubs. The weather was perfect, the tickets were free (thanks to our neighbor!) and the food was delicious! When they got back from the game, I asked Drake his favorite part and he said "all the food!"  :)

Life is Good!

The Guthrie family traveled to Minocqua, WI to spend Labor Day weekend with Gordon's parents, Jackie and Steve.  The weather was beautiful and allowed us to spend a lot of time outdoors.  We enjoyed lunch by the lake, went to the beach, played yard games outside, kicked around the soccer ball, Alexa opened her birthday gifts from Nana and Papa, and much more!  Overall we had a great time, Life is Good!

No more patches!

We recently received amazing news...Alexa was told by her eye doctor that she doesn't have to wear a patch anymore!  What a blessing!  

At two weeks old, our pediatrician noticed a cloudy spot in Alexa's eye.  After seeing a specialist, we were told she has a cataract in her left eye.  She was born with this rare condition, but given her age, surgery to remove the cataract wasn't ideal.  Instead, we've been treating it with patching for 4 years now...which is why we feel so blessed to know that it has been working! Of course, the actual cataract is still there but it isn't affecting her eye or her vision.  Praise God!

The photo on the left is Alexa at the eye doctor's office in her sunglasses after they dilated her eyes.  She just learned no more patches!  The photo on the right was the last time she wore a patch!

Family Movie Night!

We went to our first family movie and saw The Minions Movie--it was a blast!  Everyone got their own treat and shared with one another.  I was very proud of Alexa and Kirsten for sitting still the entire time, and Drake was awesome about passing the popcorn between his sisters.  We will definitely have another family movie night again soon!

Soccer Star!

Drake recently took up soccer and has been doing a great job!  Gordon played in high school, so he has been showing him a few things.  They enjoy kicking the ball around in the backyard and having a lot of fun.  Watch out David Beckham!
