Alexa Guthrie...Soccer Star!

Alexa was a part of a really cool soccer team this year called Rounded Minds, Soccer and Spanish. She practiced and played soccer while learning Spanish.  Her soccer coach is from Spain and plays for the local team, the Menace.  Alexa LOVED it!  Not only was she really good at soccer, but she developed a passion for speaking Spanish.  This program was the best of both worlds for Gordon and I, considering I speak Spanish and Gordon played soccer!

Kansas City here we come!

 Gordon and I traveled to Kansas City with some of our good friends Kaleb and Jamie.  We had an amazing time!!  So much fun talking, eating, drinking and taking lots of Uber trips all around the city. :)

Let's go camping!

 Our small group (bible study) went camping to kick off the summer.  There were 5 families that attended the fun afternoon/evening and 3 spent the night...including our family!  We bought a spacious tent with air mattresses and sleeping bags.  The kids really loved it, we all had a blast and will do it again!

La Vida Loca or... Just relaxing ;)

 The crazy life or... just relaxing from our crazy life!  Gordon and I went to Riveria Maya (Cancun) Mexico for a few days of wonderful  food, a beautiful atmosphere, and most importantly amazing company!  I enjoyed listening to the waves crash while talking with my one and only, mi amor, Gordon.  #blessed

 

Gordon's Baptism

We celebrated a big day in our household, Gordon was baptized in the Raccoon River and showed the world his faith and devotion to Jesus Christ as our Savior.  I'm so proud of him.  He delivered a beautiful testimony that brought tears to my eyes.  It was a wonderful experience.  Praise the Lord!

My baby is on her way to Kindergarten!

I can't believe time has gone by so fast...  Miss Alexa Lynn is on her way to Kindergarten!  She had a wonderful year with a wonderful teacher, Ms. Dudley, and is ready for the challenge of going off to grade school.  I couldn't hold back the tears as we said our final goodbyes to the teachers and the staff at Des Moines Christian School.  We officially closed an important chapter of our lives and are grateful for all the memories and excellent education DMCS provided for our girls.  Onward we go!

Kirsten's Kindergarten Celebration!

 Kirsten is on her way to 1st grade!  To celebrate, her teacher Miss Yacinich, put together a party where the kiddos sang a few songs for us and then we had cookies and lemonade.  Kirsten had such an excellent year and learned SO much.  She is already reading at a 2nd grade level and can complete addition and subtraction problems with ease (no fingers needed, like Mommy!).  We are so proud of her!!

Dance 2016

Another Dance season is in the books!  The girls were in Ballet & Tap combo 1 this year and performed their little hearts out.  At this years recital Kirsten and Alexa performed to a song from the Cinderella soundtrack, hence their outfits :)  Pictured in the left photo are their teachers on recital day and pictured bottom left are photos of the girls after a long day of dancing...both fell asleep in the car.  Love them!!

Nana and Papa Visit Des Moines!

Gordon's parents came for a visit to Des Moines and we had a fun filled weekend full of puzzles, yard games, and a little shopping at Bass Pro Shop.  We also celebrated Mother's Day and Gordon's Dad, Steve's, birthday!
